Custom Arrangements
What is a custom arrangement and why would I want one?
A custom arrangement is an arrangement commissioned by you specifically for your group. That means no one else has ever seen or performed it before! It also means you have a unique arrangement that is customized to your group’s strengths. You get to specify what kind of arrangement you get, including voicing, difficulty, key, solo opportunities, style, and instrumentation. Got a killer tenor soloist? Love that new recording by Postmodern Jukebox and you want to feature your student at a jazz festival? That’s what I’m here for! Are you a middle school teacher with a choir of 8 boys (two of them with changed voices) and 3 girls? I can help there, too! I will work around your needs and give you something that will help your group to feel confident no matter what their skill level.
How much does a custom arrangement cost?
The fee for custom arrangements can vary, depending on your needs. Here is the fee breakdown:
Base fee: $500 - includes master score, vocal score, and composite lead sheet for the rhythm section.
Extras
Full demo recording: $200
Rehearsal tracks (minimal piano accompaniment only): $125* - View a sample rehearsal track here
*included with full demo
Rehearsal combo part (rhythm section backing track): $75* - View a sample rehearsal combo part here
*included with full demo
Notated bass part: $50
Simple notated piano part (generic voicing guide only): $50
Fully notated piano part: $125
Any additional instruments: negotiable
Will the arrangement I commission be available for anyone else to purchase?
You’ll have exclusive performance rights for 12 months from commission completion date. This ensures that you will be the only ensemble performing your commissioned arrangement the year you receive it.
Can I request to have something from your chart catalog voiced for my group?
Absolutely, and it will cost you less than a custom arrangement. See something you like in the chart catalog but just need it tweaked a bit for your group? I can simplify, change the voicing (SATB to SSA, etc.), change the key, and anything else you might need.
Do you offer any other services?
Already have your repertoire list lined up but missing some key pieces? Here’s how I can help:
Rehearsal tracks/demos (for any style, including chamber choir, pop, musical theater, etc.) at a tempo or multiple tempi of your choosing
Accompaniment/backing tracks
Re-voicing of vocal parts (SATB to SSA, etc.)
Simplification of vocal parts (SATB to SAB, or level 4 to level 3, etc.)
Changing the key of a song
Adding piano reduction to an open score
These are just a few examples of how I can help you and your students excel during rehearsal. Have other needs not listed here? Don’t hesitate to reach out!
